Wilson
B. Santiago, founder and major proprietor of WICON Contractors,
started his career in the construction business as a project
draftsman in Brazil. In 1986, Mr. Santiago immigrated to
Canada and started working as an assistant-carpenter in
Toronto. After 6 months of practice and studies of the local
construction codes, he ventured into self-employed-carpentry,
starting to use the acronym WICON.
After
three years of working in that region, he moved to Vancouver
in search of new business opportunities and challenges,
as well as to enjoy better weather conditions.
Once
in Vancouver, Mr. Santiago started working as a framer-carpenter
on high rising, single and custom housing, condominiums
and commercial buildings projects. After becoming familiar
and comfortable with B.C.’s construction bylaws, he founded
WICON Contractors.
Since
its inception in the year 1989, WICON Contractors has
been involved in several projects
from foundation to finish, as well as on simple
and/or complete home renovations. Beyond his experience
in Canada, Wilson Santiago is also skilled in setting up
Canadian pre-fabricated houses in San Francisco, CA, in
the USA.
